You were the absolute highlight of so many cadets' and midshipmen's trips to Israel! No one ever got the rankings you did in the post-trip analysis. You introduced dozens of cadets and midshipmen from America's military academies to Israel; for them, you were the voice of Israel and the voice of an Israeli soldier - and their friend. These young officers will carry a positive Israel experience throughout their service careers thanks in great measure to you.

My husband and I toured with Jon for 2 weeks in Israel this past May. We met him in Tiberias and he continued traveling with us through Jerusalem, the Negev and Tel Aviv. He has an amazing depth of knowledge and an unbelievably engaging and clear eyed manner. His love of Israel comes through in every aspect of his tours. I learned more about ancient history than I thought possible and I left with a new and deeper appreciation of Israel, it’s people, the challenges it faces and the amazing successes it has achieved. My husband has a particular interest in Israeli military history. Jon was incredibly knowledgeable about all aspect of military service, strategy, weaponry, etc. In addition, I felt he understood and was able to articulate the balancing act the Israeli military must contend with every day. In addition, Jon was so flexible and more than happy to make changes in the prepared schedule to accommodate our interests and to include different sites when he thought they would suit us better than things that were pre-planned. He was incredibly generous with his time. I’d tour again with him in a heartbeat!!!

Yoni, you need to know that your commentary during our tour was the most memorable and valuable part of the trip. Seeing Israel for the first time was a true eye opener. Goes to show you what can come of high purpose, courage and strong leadership.

Thank you for the depth of everything you have given us these past few days. Our time together was much to short. You have left us wanting to be in Israel again and again and to share this wonderful land with our students. Thank you again for your love of history and your amazing gift of storytelling.

Jon's depth of knowledge and love of Israel was evident throughout our trip—from culture, religion to politics. In July of 2010 I came to Israel with my 15 year old grandson. Being my first visit I knew that I needed a knowledgeable guide of the country's sights but more important the history.
